Bivalvia in Ten Years (Part 2):

Michael Ellis

Michael's four years at Dartmouth are successful, of course, and he graduates with full honors and goes to work for the RNC, making a ridiculously large amount of money for a recent college grad. He launches a successful bid for the House as soon as he is able. During his term, he sponsers a constitutional amendment to lower the minimum age for president to twenty-five, as well as one to rename the country the "Ronald Regan United States of America," both of which fail to even pass the House. Sad that his political agenda was rejected, he retires from Congress and goes into the seminary, where he meets Tara's ex-husband who was so heartbroken by her leaving him that he decided to live a life of celebacy. They, of course, have an affair.

Ben Kingsland

Ben drops out of Johns Hopkins after two years and joins a commune out in Arizona. He, too, befriends a group of Tibetan Buddhists, who show him the true meaning of life, happiness and love. (Read: Lots and lots of sex.) The last time anyone heard from him he was working on his first novel My Life in a Pink Genie Outfit about a cross-dressing protagonist who discovers his preference at an early age when he finds that he actually likes getting dressed up by his sister. No, there are no monkeys in it.

Bivalvia in Ten Years (Part 1):

Tara Egan

After three happy years at McGill University, Tara returns to the US and settles in New York, where she works her way up the ranks of management at an investment firm to eventually become CEO. She is happily married to her first boyfriend, a Quebecois named Jean, for seven years until she realizes her true sexuality, quits her job, leaves her husband and flies to Paris, where she becomes romantically involved with Veronica Betancourt. She still knows not a word of French.

--

Veronica Bentancourt

Veronica blossoms at Swarthmore and finds friendship among a group of Tibetian Buddhists, ironically enough. She studies abroad in France for a year and while there becomes the target of the French Academy when she criticizes the French president for not using the subjunctive, which the Academy had abolished a few months previously, but which she still holds dear. While evading the Academy's Grammar Police, she hides out in a small brothel on the outskirts of Paris, where she makes money for many years as a hooker under the name "Plus-Que-Angel" and eventually becomes romantically involved with her old friend Tara Egan. Oh, and they close France's borders, so neither of the two can return to dear old America.
