I don't like Titanic because it's a bad movie, not because it's a "chick flick." Your generalization is slightly off the mark, I think. Most people are hostile toward Titanic because it was dumb, not because of its "genre." I like smoochy movies, just as long as they are good smoochy movies.

Titanic would have been much better if it had had aliens in it. You know, Jack and whats-her-name are steaming up the car and all of a sudden five Jem'Hadar (SP) warriors appear and blast the heck out of it.
